2、eauthoridentifiesthreephasesoftheinternationalisationprocess.Moredetailedanalysesoftheinternationalisationprocessshowsthatcompaniesaretryingtodevelopmorecomplexformsofinternationalbusinessactivities.Theauthoralsoidentifiesfourgroupsofcompetenciesthatarethecornerstonesofcorporatestrategies.Thisst

3、udyrevealsthat40.6%ofcompaniesdiversifiedthroughexternalmeans,36.2%diversifiedthroughinternalmeans,while23.2%diversifiedthroughbothinternalandexternalmethods.Thereappearstobenostatisticallysignificantperformancedifferencesamongcompaniesregardingexternalandinternalgrowthstrategies.Internalgrowtha

4、ndjointventuresarethemostimportantformsofdiversification.Thesecompaniesalsotendtodevelopvariousformsoflong-termstrategicco-operation.Thisprocesscanbecrucialfordevelopingcompetitiveadvantages.Bycomparingtheperformanceofcompaniesregardingownershipstructure,theauthorfoundthatcompanieswithinternatio
