3、resentanapproachfordesigningself-monitoringtechnologycalledsemi-automatedtracking,whichcombinesbothmanualandautomateddatacollectionmethods.Throughthisapproach,weaimtolowerthecaptureburdens,collectdatathatistypicallyhardtotrackautomatically,andpromoteawarenesstohelppeople
4、achievethegoalsofself-monitoring.Wefirstspecifythreedesignconsiderationsforsemi-automatedtracking—(1)datacapturefeasibility;(2)purposeofself-monitoring;and(3)motivationlevel.Wethenprovideexamplesofsemi-automatedtrackingapplicationsinthedomainsofsleep,mood,andfoodtracking

7、haviorchanges(see[1]forareviewofself-monitoringresearch).Althoughself-monitoringhasbeenusedsuccessfullyforbehaviorchangeinterventions,itshighdatacollectionburdensinbothpaperandelectronictoolshinderpeoplefromadoptinglong-termself-monitoringpractices[2].Forexample,foodtrac
