2、84,ChinaAbstract:Thispaperdescribestheimplementationandperformanceofthevirtualassemblysupportsys-tem(VASS),anewsystemthatcanprovidedesignersandassemblyprocessengineerswithasimulationandvisualizationenvironmentwheretheycanevaluatetheassemblability/disassembl
3、abilityofproducts,andtherebyuseacomputertointuitivelycreateassemblyplansandinteractivelygenerateassemblyprocesscharts.Subassemblyplanningandassemblypriorityreasoningtechniqueswereutilizedtofindheuristicinformationtoimprovetheefficiencyofassemblyprocessplann
4、ing.Toolplanningwasimple-mentedtoconsidertoolrequirementsintheproductdesignstage.Newmethodsweredevelopedtoreducethecomputationamountinvolvedininterferencechecking.AsanimportantfeatureoftheVASS,humaninteractionwasintegratedintothewholeprocessofassemblyproces
