3、savailablebeforeorafteryoucompleteyourstudies(foramaximumoftwelvemonths).Torevieweligibilityfora17‐monthextension,pleasesee17‐MonthExtensionofOPTPacket.Definitionof“OptionalPracticalTraining”Optionalpracticaltrainingisdesignedtoprovideyouwithanopportunitytogainactualemploym

4、entexperienceinyourchosenprofessionforamaximumofoneyear.Itspurposeistocomplementyouracademicwork.Optionalpracticaltrainingfallsintofourcategories:(1)fullorpart‐timeemploymentduringyourannualvacationifyouareenrolledandintendtoregisterforthenextsession:(2)part‐timeemployment(

5、20hoursperweekorless)whileschoolisinsession:(3)fullorpart‐timeemploymentafteryouhavecompletedyourcourserequirementsbutbeforeyouhavefinishedyourthesis:or(4)full‐timeemploymentafteryouhavecompletedyourdegreerequirements.EligibilityRequirementsTheworkmustbedirectlyrelatedtoyou

6、rmajorfieldofstudyanditmustbeappropriateforsomeonewithyourlevelofeducation.Youdonotneedtohaveaspecificjoboffertoapplyforoptionalpracticaltrainingbutbeawarethatyoucannotrecoverportionsoftheoptionalpracticaltrainingperiodthatyoumayhavespentsearchingforemployment.Pre‐completio

7、nOPTmaybefulltimeorparttime.PostcompletionOPT,regulationsindicatethatyouareexpectedtoworkfulltime.Tobeeligibleforoptionalpracticaltraining,youmusthavebeeninlawfulstatusandenrolledfulltimeforatleastoneacademicyearpriortoapplying.IfyouhavealowGPAorareonAcademicProbation,ISPSr

8、eservestherighttoholdyourapplicationuntilyourgradesareposted.StudentsenrolledinEng
