4、Pageof112BACKGROUNDInEPTO,therearemanypeoplewhohavebeenconductingpeertrainingworkshopsforseveralyearsandhavepursuedfurtherlearningtoimprovetheirknowledgeandskills.SomearenowworkingprofessionallyfortheACLASSROOMOFDIFFERENCETMProgramme,orasinterculturalandanti-discriminationtra

5、inerswithotherassociations,ortheyhavedemonstratedacommitmenttoactivelypursueacareerinthefield.ManyotherpeertrainersfeeltheystillhavealottolearnandarehappytoparticipateinEPTOasayouthmovement.Peertraininghasalwayshadavoluntaryspiritinit,andthisisafundamentalphilosophyofthismeth

6、odofsocialchange.However,inordertomultiplythebenefitsofpeertraining,thereneedstobemorepeoplewhocantrainpeertrainers,innationallanguages,inlocalareas.Thisrequiresanorganizationalprocessforimplementingtrain-the-peertrainers,andaclearlydefinedprocessforpeerstobecomeprofessionals

7、withinasetofarticulatedcompetenciesandselectioncriteria.InEPTO’sRulesofProcedure,thepeertrainersdecidedonthefollowingpolicyinAugust2000:“PeerTrainerscaneventuallyrequestconsiderationtobetrainedasprofessionaltrainerswhocanconducttrain-the-peertrainerprogrammesatnationallevel.A
