6、asEve.The1954recordingwasnotarelayoftheChristmasEveservice,however;thatwouldhavebeenunthinkablewiththebulkycamerasusedthen.Instead,theservicewasspeciallydevisedfortelevisionandwasalittleshorterthantheChrist-masEveservice,withjustsevenratherthanthetraditionalnin

7、elessons.ThusbeganthenewertraditionofCarolsfromKing’s,nowproducedbytheBBC’sReligion&EthicsDepartmentforBBCTwo.ItcontinuestoberecordedtocomplementthelivebroadcastonChristmasEve.Forthisservicetheread-ingschangefromyeartoyear,allowingvarietyinthewaytheChristmasnar
