2、ision)wasadoptedbytheBureauofIndianStandardson20June1989,afterthedraftfinalizedbytheCementandConcreteSectionalCommitteehadbeenapprovedbytheCivilEngineeringDivisionCouncil.Thisstandardwasfirstpublishedin1951andsubsequentlyrevisedin1958,1967and1976.Thisfourthrevisionincorporatestheexperienceg

3、ainedwiththeuseofthisspecificationandbringsthestandardinlinewiththepresentpracticesfollowedintheproductionandtestingofcement.Sincethethirdrevisionofthisstandardwaspublished,alargenumberofamendmentshavebeenissuedfromtimetotimeinordertomodifyvariousrequirementsbasedonexperiencegainedwiththeus

4、eofthestandardandtherequirementsoftheusers,andalsokeepinginviewtherawmaterialsandfuelsavailableinthecountryforthemanufactureofcement.Theimportantamendmentsincludeincreaseininsolubleresiduefrom2to4percent,incorporating33MPaasthe28-daycompressivestrength,makingautoclavesoundnesstestcompulsory

5、irrespectiveofmagnesiacontent,incorporatingaprovisionforretestinrespectofautoclavesoundnesstestafteraerationof.thecement,incorpo-ratingaclauseonfalsesetandpermittingpackagingofcementin25-kgbags.Inviewoftheselargenumberofamendments,theSectionalCommitteedecidedtobringoutthisfourthrevisionofth

6、estandardincorporatingalltheseamendmentssoastomakeitmoreconvenientfortheusers.TheSectionalCommitteealsodecidedthatordinaryPortlandcementshouldbedesignatedbyits28-daycompressivestrengthand,therefore,thetitleofthisstandardhasbeen-modifiedinthisrevision,afteitakingouttheprovisionsrelatingtolow
