2、AppliancesandWaterFittingsSectionalCommittee,CED3FOREWORDThisIndianStandard(FourthRevision)wasadoptedbytheBureauofIndianStandards,afterthedraftfinalizedbytheSanitaryAppliancesandWaterFittingsSectionalCommitteehadbeenapprovedbytheCivilEngineeringDivisionCouncil.Thisstand

3、ardwasfirstpublishedin1962andwassubsequentlyrevisedin1968,1977and1989.Thefourthrevisionofthestandardhasbeentakenuptoincorporatefurtherchangesinthestandardfoundnecessaryinthelightofimprovementsmadebytheindustryinthisfield.Importantchangesmadeinthisrevisioninclude:a)Dimen

4、sionsforbodyandfittingsforlowpressureandhighpressuretypehavebeenseparated.b)Thedimensionsforlowpressuretyperemainsthesamewhereasincaseofhighpressuretype,theboreofseatingismuchlessthanlowpressuretype.Sotheneedwasfeltthatevenifdiameterofbodyatspigotisreducedandaccordingly

5、reducingthediameterofpistonandprovidingsmallflangeattheendofinletshank.Alotofcostlymetalissavedwithoutatallaffectingtheperformanceofthevalve.c)Dimensionsforlowpressuretypeverticalinletshankhavebeenintroducedtofacilitatetheconsumerstousethevalvewherethepressureofwaterisb

6、elow0.175MPa.d)TheminimumrequirementoflongarmandshortarmofleverhavebeenmentionedatTable7andtheloadshaveproportionatelybeenincreased.Thiswillhelpthetestinglabstocheckthisrequirementinsteadofgenerallygivingremarks.Thecompositionofthecommitteeresponsiblefortheformulationof
