3、sdiffersfromthecorrespondingequilibriumchargedfraction.Byusingatheoreticalapproach,weinvestigatedhowthechargingstateofagrowingnucleationmodebehavesunderdifferentatmosphericconditions.Wefoundthatthetimeevolutionofthenucleichargingstateisgovernedbytwoparameters:theinitialnucleichargings

4、tatedeterminedbythenucleationmechanismandtheparameterKthatisdirectlyproportionaltotheclusterionconcentrationandinverselyproportionaltothenucleigrowthrate.WedemonstratedthatifthevalueKis1largerthanacertainthresholdvalue(2–4nm),anyinformationabouttheinitialchargingstateofthenuclei,andt

5、herebyaboutthenucleationmechanism,willbelostbythetimethenucleigrowintothemeasurementsizerange(>3nm).Bymakingafewsimplifyingassumptions,wederivedananalyticalexpressionforthefunctionaldependenceofthenucleichargingstateasafunctionofthenucleisize.Wedemonstratedthatthederivedexpressioncanu
