4、trategiststobeamirrorimageofRussia’sperceptionofU.S.activitiesintheirregularwarfaredomain.ThisconceptualizationalsoreflectsthefactthatU.S.strategiccompetitionwithotherstateslikeChina,Iran,andNorthKoreainvolvespoliticalandeconomiccompetition,andthatthewor
5、d“warfare”goesbeyondthemilitarydimensiononaglobalbasis.In1999,twoChinesemilitaryanalystsreleasedaChineseversionofirregularwarfareoperationsandlabeleditas“unrestrictedwarfare.”ColonelQiaoLiangandColonelWangXiangsuidescribeunrestrictedwarfareas,4Unrestrict
6、edwarisawarthatsurpassesallboundariesandrestrictions.Ittakesnonmilitaryformsandmilitaryformsandcreatesawaronmanyfronts.Itisthewarofthefuture.TheChineseuseof“unrestrictedwarfare”hasbeenfurtheranalyzedandsometimesreferredtoas“quasiwarfare,”whichismarkedbyt
