3、riestheplasticfromthespruetoeachindividualcavity.Atthispointhematerialpassesthroughagateintothecavity.Thegateisarestriction,smallerthentherunner,toprovideforevenfillingofthemoldcavityandtoallowtheproductstobeeasilyremovedformtherunnersystem.Withmostinjectionmoldingsystem,th
4、earticlescanbesnappedawayfromtherunnerorspruewithoutadditionaltrimming.Prouductsthathavebeeninjectionmoldedcanusuallybeidentifiedbyfindingwherethegatewasbrokenoff.Thegatewillusuallybelocatedattheedgeorpartinglineofanobjectorinthecenterofcylindricalproduct.Moldsareexpensive,
5、asarethemachines.Yet,oncetheproducthasbeendesigned,moldsmade,andproductionstared,articlescanbeproducedinquantityatlowcost.Virtuallyallthermoplasticscanbeinjectionmoldedthroughvariationsinmoldandmachinedesign.Mold(anddie)partsthataremass-producedandstandardizedinshapeanddime
6、nsionarereferredtoas“standards”(or“standardparts”).Specializedoperatorsofmillingmachines,lathes,lathes,electronicdischargemachining(EDN)equipmentandgrindersproducemoldcomponentsindependentlyofeachother,followingdetaiedmoldpartdrawings.Finally,alltheseitemscometogetherwithth
