2、WeiDynasty(around471-523AD),some1,400yearsago.Itwasrepeatedlyrenovatedinlaterdynasties,buttheoriginalstructureremainedunchanged.TheexistingbuildingistheruinsoftherenovationscarriedoutintheMingandQingdynasties.ThetempleistheonlyexistingonefeaturingtheintegrationBuddhist,TaoistandConfuci

3、ancultures.Completelybuiltonthemountaincliff,thewood-structuretempleissupportedbythebeamsinsertedintothechiseledholesinthecliff.Thetempleissuspendedintheair,withprecipicesonthetopandchasmsatthebottom.Lookedfromafar,thetempleislikeanexquisitereliefsculpture;lookedatclosequarters,thetemp

4、leisonthepointofflyingintothesky.Thereareover40hallsinthetempleandmorethan80Buddhistsculpturesmadeofbronze,iron,stoneandmud.Ontherockwallalongtheplankwayofthetemple,therearefourengravedcharacters"GongShuTianQiao"."GongShu"isthenameofLuBan,whoisconsideredbytheChineseasthefatherofbuilder

5、s.ThemeaningofthefourcharactersisthatamarveloustemplelikethiscouldonlybebuiltbygreatmasterswithexceptionallysuperbskillslikeLuBan.Alocalballaddescribingthebreathtakingnatureofthetemplegoeslikethis:"theSuspendedTempleisinmidair;lookslikethetempleissuspendedbythreehorsetails".Thefamouspo

6、etLiBaioftheTangDynastywrote"zhuangguan"(whichmeans"spectacular")onthecliffwall.AndthegreattravelerXuXiakeoftheMingDynastycalledtheSuspendedTemple"amarvelouswonder"inhistravelnotes.TheSuspendedTempleislocatedinthedepthsofmountains,withthereservoirofMt.Hengshanatitsside.Holding13million
