青岛大学本科生毕业论文(设计)毕业论文IntroductionWhentalkingaboutthefamoussitcoms,manypeoplewillreferto“Friends”and“MyOwnSwordsman”.ThisisnothardtounderstandbecausebothofthemareveryoutstandingandsuccessfulsitcomsinAmericaandChina.Althoughthetwositcomsareverydifferentinmanyaspectssuchasplotandreleasedate,theyhavebothperfectlymirroredthefeaturesoftheiragesandcountries.Justbecauseofthis,wecouldclearlyseebothofthetwocountries’culturalvaluesviathemandthenfeeltheculturaldifferencesbetweenChinaandAmerica.“Friends”isanAmericansitcomscreenplaybyDavidCraneandMartaKauffmanwhichairedonNBCfromSep.22,1994toMay6,2004.Intotal,ithas10seasons,236episodes.Thesitcommainlytellsabouttheinterestingandhumorousstoriesofsixyoungfriends(Ross,Rachel,Chandler,Monica,JoeyandPhoebe)inanapartmentofManhattan,NewYorkCity.ThelifeofthesixfriendsisavividreflectionofthelifeofAmericanyoungpeople,soitattractsmanyaudiences.What’smore,dependingonitshumorouswordsandupsanddownsoftheplot,“Friends”becamefamousveryquickly.“MyOwnSwordsman”isaChinesecostumepiecescreenplaybyNingCaishenwhichwasreleasedintheyear2006.Intotal,ithas80episodes.Thesitcommainlytellsabouttheinterestingandhumorousstoriesofsixmenwithcharacter(BaiZhantang,TongXiangyu,LvXiucai,GuoFurong,LiDazuiandZhuWushuang)inataverncalled“TongFuTavern”.Thesitcomquicklybecamefamousbecauseofitsnonsenseandhumorousplots.Theaudienceratingof“MyOwnSwordsman”hadoncereached7%.Itisnothardtotellhowpopular“MyOwnSwordsman”isinthatmoment.20 青岛大学本科生毕业论文(设计)ConclusionItissaidthatdifferentcountrieshavedifferentcultures,thefirstthingforcross-culturalcommunicationistounderstandtheculturaldifferences.Onlybyunderstandingaculture,peoplecancommunicatewithit.Although“Friends”and“MyOwnSwordsman”arejustsitcoms,theyshowAmericanandChineseculturesinfrontofusvividly.WecanregardthemasmicrocosmsofAmericanandChinesecultures.Withthedevelopmentofglobalization,culturalshockbecomesacommonphenomenon,especiallyfortheyoungman.Thetwositcoms“Friends”and“MyOwnSwordsman”mainlytellaboutthestoriesoftheyouth,sotheculturaldifferencestheyreflectaremainlyabouttheissueswhattheyoungpeoplecare.Throughthetwositcoms,weknowalotofthingsaredifferentformChineseandAmericancultures.ChapterOneistorevealthedifferentviewsoflove.ComparedwiththeconservativeviewofloveinChina,theviewofloveinAmericaismoreopen.ChapterTwointroducesthedifferencesbetweenChineseandAmerican’sviewsofaffection.ChapterThreeanalyzesthedifferentviewsoffriendshipbetweenChinaandAmerica.ChapterFourconcludesthedifferentviewsofmoney.Withthecomparisonofthetwositcoms,Ihopethattheseculturaldifferencesandreasonspresentedinthispaper,aswellaswiththewaytolearnAmericanandChineseculturescouldmakeeveryonebemoreclearabouttheaboveaspectsofbothChineseandAmericancultures,andthenreducetheimpactofculturalbarriers,communicatewiththeAmericansmoothly.20
