3、inationsusingmulticastdistributionifprovidedbytheunderlyingnetwork.NotethatRTPitselfdoesnotprovideanymechanismtoensuretimelydeliveryorprovideotherquality-of-serviceguarantees,butreliesonlower-layerservicestodoso.Itdoesnotguaranteedeliveryorpreventout-of-orderdelivery,nordoesitassumethattheunderly
4、ingnetworkisreliableanddeliverspacketsinsequence.ThesequencenumbersincludedinRTPallowthereceivertoreconstructthesender'spacketsequence,butsequencenumbersmightalsobeusedtodeterminetheproperlocationofapacket,forexampleinvideodecoding,withoutnecessarilydecodingpacketsinsequence.WhileRTPisprimarilyde
5、signedtosatisfytheneedsofmulti-participantmultimediaconferences,itisnotlimitedtothatparticularapplication.Storageofcontinuousdata,interactivedistributedsimulation,activebadge,andcontrolandmeasurementapplicationsmayalsofindRTPapplicable.ThisdocumentdefinesRTP,consistingoftwoclosely-linkedparts:[1]
