4、eticalgorithmsareoftenviewedasfunctionoptimizers,althoughtherangeofproblemstowhichgeneticalgorithmshavebeenappliedisquitebroad.Antationenimplemofageneticalgorithmbeginswithapopulationof(typicallyrandom)hromosomes.cOnethenaluatesevthesestructuresandallocatesreproductiveopp

5、ortunitiesinsuchaywathatthosehromosomescwhichtrepresenabettersolutiontothetargetproblemareengivmorehancesctoreproduce"thanthosehromosomescwhicharepoorersolutions.Thegoodness"ofasolutionisypicallytdenedwithrespecttothecurrentpopulation.Thisparticulardescriptionofageneti

6、calgorithmisintentionallyabstractbecauseinsomesense,thetermgeneticalgorithmhaswotmeanings.Inastrictinterpretation,thegeneticalgorithmreferstoamodelintroducedandinvestigatedybJohnHolland(1975)andybtsstudenofHolland(e.g.,DeJong,1975).Itisstillthecasethatmostoftheexistingthe

7、oryforgeneticalgorithmsapplieseithersolelyorprimarilytothemodelintroducedybHolland,aswellasariationsvonwhatwillbereferredtointhispaperasthealanoniccgeneticalgorithm.tRecentheoreticalancesadvinmodelinggeneticalgorithmsalsoapplyprimarilytothecanonicalgeneticalgorithmose,(V1
