4、onsonaCsI(Tl)detectorwerestudiedusinganeutronbeamgeneratedbya13MVTandemaccelerator.Theenergyspectraofnuclearrecoilsfrom7keVto132keVweremeasured,andtheirquenchingfactorsforscintillatinglightyieldwerederived.ThedatarepresentsthefirstconfirmationoftheOpticalModelp
5、redictionsonneutronelasticscatteringswithadirectmeasurementonthenuclearrecoilsofheavynuclei.Thepulseshapediscriminationtechniquestodifferentiatenuclearrecoilsfromγ-backgroundwerestudied.Internalconsistencieswereobtainedamongthedifferentmethodsoflightyieldmeasur

7、es[1]areoffundamentalimportanceinparticlephysicsandcosmology.TheWeaklyInteractingMassiveParticles(WIMPs)aregoodcandidatesfor“Cold”DarkMatter,andtheirexperimentalsearcheshavegatheredalotofinterestsinrecentyears.Themostpromisingavenueistodetectthenuclearrecoils
8、ignaturesduetoelasticscatteringsofWIMPsonthetargetisotopes.Thetypicalenergydepositionsareonlyoftheorderof10keV,imposingbigexperimentalchallengesintermsofthedetectionofweaksignalsaswellasb
