2、UCTIONThispaperdescribessomeexperienceswithandtheimpactoftheadditionofpowersystemdynamicmodelstoapplicationtestingofEHVtransmissionlineprotectionsystems.Thesemodelsprovideusefulinformation,especiallyinhighlystressedsystems,duringfrequencyexcursions,orwherethe
3、reareapplicationsofsynchronizingorsynchronism-checkfunctions.Thispaperreviewsthevariousformsoftestsignalsthatmaybeappliedtorelays.Italsodiscussesfactorstoconsiderwhenreducingcomplexpowersystemstolumpedcomponents.Thereducedsystemshouldretainfeaturesthatimposes
4、ignificantchallengestotheprotectionsystem,whilekeepingthesystemsimpleenoughtobemodeledbyreasonablysizedtestfacilities.Thevalueofapplicationtestingforprotectionsystemsiswellrecognized,especiallyforcomplexprotectionsystems.Thedegreeofcomplexityoftestsimulations
5、shouldbebalancedwiththepossiblebenefitofdiscoveringlimitationsorchallengesthatmayaffectspecificapplicationsinasignificantmanner.TESTPURPOSESANDSIGNALSPurposesTheprimarypurposeofallprotectionsystemtestsistoensurethattherelayswillperformwiththerequiredspeed,sen
6、sitivity,andsecurityforaparticularapplicationorgroupofapplications.Theneedtomakethisdeterminationvarieswidely,dependingonthecircumstances.TwobroadcategoriesoftestingaredefinedintheCIGREreport“AnalysisandGuidelinesforTestingNumericalProtectionSchemes”[1].These
7、categoriesaretypetestingandindividualtesting.TypeTestingTypetestingisperformedononlyoneprotectionsystemofagivendesign,whileindividualtestingmaybeperformedoneveryin-serviceprotectionsystem.Typetestingisoftenvaluablewhenyouareconsideringtheapplicationofanewtype
