4、ofluidicdevices.Theuseofnanotubesforfluidtransportrequireslarge-diametertubesthatcansustainprescribedloadingwithoutfailure.Twomodelsofthestressstrainstateoflongmultiwallcarbonnanotubes,subjectedtointernalpressure,aredescribed.Cylindricalnanotubeshaving

5、aRussiandollstructurehavebeenconsidered.Itisassumedthatthedeformationsarelinearelasticandnegligiblealongthetubeaxis(incomparisonwiththeradialdeformations).Thisassumptionisnotrestrictiveforpotentialapplicationsofnanotubes,wheretheirdeformationsmustbes

6、mallandreversible.Thedistancebetweenthelayersissmallincomparisontotheradiiofcurvatureofgraphitelayers.Inthecaseofseveralcarbonlayers,adiscretemodel(DM)isproposed.ThesolutionsofDMequations,withcorrespondingboundaryconditions,determinethestressesbetwee

7、nthelayers,theforcesinthelayers,andthedeformationofthelayers.Forthecaseofthickwallsbuiltofnumerouscarbonlayers,acontinuousmodel(CM)isproposed.ThemainCMequationistheEulersdifferentialequationwithcorrespondingboundaryconditions.Itssolutiondefinesthecont
