5、idgingordenyingtheother.Whenagovernmentofficialorpublicfigureobjectstothepublicationofanembarrassingphotograph,perhapstakenbyaninvasivepaparazzo,itissimplynotpossibletofullyvindicatebothanewspaper’sinterestinpublishingthephotographandthesubject’sinterestinprivacy.Althoughgeneralizationsofteno

6、versimplifycomplexlegal,cultural,andmoralunderstandings,itneverthelessremainstruethatEuropeancourtstendtoplacegreaterrelativeemphasisonsafeguardingprivacythandocourtsintheUnitedStates.Thus,thestandardnarrativepositsthattheUnitedStatesgivesanabsoluteprioritytospeech,overvindicationofprivacyint
