5、ingdecades.Thisrapidgrowthmaybelargelylinkedtotheglobalizationoftrade,butChinahasyetto‘‘globalize”itsbankingsector.Chinesebankingisdominatedbyfourverylargestate-ownedbanks–the‘‘BigFour”–withaboutthree-fourthsofindustryassets,andveryfewforeignbanks.Aswell,China’slegalandfinancialsy

6、stemsarenotwelldeveloped–evenbythestandardsofmostdevelopingnations.Researchondevelopingnationsandonthefinancegrowthnexusstronglysuggeststhattheobservedhighgrowthratescannotcontinueindefinitelywithoutsignificantreformofthebankingsystemandthelegal/financialinfrastructure.Thebankingr
