2、2007;acceptedonNovember7,2007)Incontinuouscastingofsteel,moldfluxesareusedtopreventsurfacedefects,suchaslongitudinalcracks.Thecrystallizationofmoldfluxpromotesmildcoolingofthesteelshell,butcrystallizationbehaviorhasbeenstilluncertain.Therefore,thisstudyhasbeencarriedouttoanalyzethecrystallizationpro
3、cessesofmoldflux.Moldfluxusedinthisstudyhashightendencyforcrystallization.Quenchedspecimenswereheat-treatedinvariousconditionsandcharacterized.Glassyspecimenheat-treatedintheelectricfurnaceover550°Cfor180mincrystallized.ThesecrystallinewereconfirmedtobecuspidinebyXRDanalysis.Thenumberofgrainsdecrease
4、dandtheaveragegrainsizeincreasedwithriseoftemperatureofheattreat-ment.Thegrowthvelocityalsoincreasedwithriseoftemperature.In-situobservationbythelasermicroscoperevealedthattheglassyspecimencrystallizedinamomentover600°Candthesurfaceofthespecimenturnedtoberough.Thismayleadtomildcoolinginthemold.KEY
