2、udyofpatternsofsmallfirmstrategicbehavior,orstrategicorientation,isgraduallygainingprominenceintheliterature.Strategicbehaviorisaconsequenceofvariousantecedents,suchastheprevalentmanagementphilosophyandenviron-mentaldynamism.It,inturn,determinestheparticularengineerings

3、tanceadopted,structuresandprocessesdeployed,andultimately,organizationalperformance.Thepurposeofthispaperistocritique,enhanceandextendamodelproposedbyAloulouandFayolle(2005)thatisfocusedparticularlyontheentrepreneurialorientationofsmallfirms.Amodelisproposedforsmallfirms

4、trategicorientationthatisbasedonaconfigurationalapproach,andappliestheconceptsoftheadaptivecycleandthefirmslifecycle.Therationalefor,andthevariousdimensionsoftheproposedmodelaredescribed,andrecommendationsmadeforfutureresearchonsmallfirmstrategicbehavior.Keywords:Strategi

5、corientation;strategicbehaviour;entrepreneurialorientation;smallfirms.INTRODUCTIONThereisgeneralagreementthatsmallfirms(e.g.thosehavingfewerthan50full-timeemployees)functionthroughareducedresourcebasethanlargerorganizations,workwithgreaterflexibilityandfasterresponsetimes
