2、donthesaturatedflowandcannotreasonablyevaluatethedrainageefficiencyofdrainagelayer.Arecentstudydemonstratedthat7capillaryeffectscouldbecomesignificantwithunsaturatedflowplayinganimportantroleinconductingwateroutofthedrainagelayerin8somecases.Inviewofthedisadvantagesofthet

3、womethods,itisreasonabletocombinethemtoguidethedesignofadrainagelayer.Here,a9modelwasestablishedbasedontheone-dimensional(1D)transientBoussinesqequationwithacapillarycorrection.Thegeneralsolutionto10thegoverningequationwasobtainedusingthemethodofseparationvariables.Furthe

4、rmore,thepresentedmodelwasvalidatedagainst11numericalsimulationspredictedbyafinite-differencemethod(theMATLABprogram)andthefinite-elementmethod(SUTRAprogram).12Acomparisonwasconductedtodemonstratethedifferencebetweenthesaturateddrainageandunsaturateddrainageprocesses.Ther
