2、wafewdaysafterthat.Mybesthopesandmyworstfearswereconfirmedallatonce.IhadopenedPandora’sBoxtoastandingovationandalmostsimultaneously,alevelofcritiqueIhadneverexperiencedinmylifeandthebeginningofwhatwouldbecomeaseriesofthreats.Thelasttwoyearshavebeenabaptismo
3、ffire,tosaytheleast,whereIlearnedjusthowlittleIknowandalsohowmuch.Itwasmyscaryfirststepasanactivist,awordIneverimaginedthatIwouldusetodescribemyself.So,readingtheapplicationsofactivistswhoapplyhereforOneYoungWorldscholarshipswassurprisingtome.HereIwas,readi
4、ngthestoriesofpeoplefromnearly200differentcountriesfromaroundtheworldwithexperiencesthatIcouldn’tevenimagine.Imean,Ireallyjust–theyweresooutofthisworldtome.Andyet,theirnoteslooklikemynotes.Thesamethemesemergedoverandoverandoveragain.Therewassomuchoverlapwit
5、hthethingsthatIhadbeenthinkingaboutandthatIhadbeenstrugglingwithbecausethetruthis,ithadneverbeenaboutbeinganactivist.Itwasaboutthechoicetomakemyselfvisibleandthechoicesthatyoumadetodothat,too.Apartfromthesignificantprogresstheworldhasmadeinthecauseforequali
6、ty,thebestthingaboutthelasttwoyearshasbeenthis:findingpeoplefromsuchdisparateexperiencesandcommunitiesthatIfoundthatIhavesomethingincommonwith.Thisisacommunityofartists,spiritualteachers,dreamers,thinkers,doers,whoworktogetherandsupporteachother.Forthefirst
