5、thepatho-genesisandbasicpropertiesoftheseviruseshavebeenimpededduetothefastidiousnatureoftheirgrowthrequirements(RobbandBond,1980).Cultivationoftheentericstrainshasusuallybeenlimitedtotheirgrowthinthehostanimalorcellsandtissuesderivedfromthathost(McIntosh,1974).Thefel
6、ineinfectiousperitonitisvirus(FIPV)hasbeengrownatlowinfectivitytitersbyco-cultivationofinfectedperitonealmacrophageswithfelinecellcultures(Black,1980;Pedersenetal.,1981a),inintestinalandtrachealringcultures(HoshinoandScott,1978),infetalfelinelungcultures(O'Reillyetal.
