1、UNIVERSITYOFMALAYASTUDENTEXCHANGEPROGRAMME(UMSEP)1.INTRODUCTIONTheincreasingfocusoninternationalizationofhighereducationhasmadestudyabroadprogramanessentialpartofauniversitylearningprocess.ThissignificantaspectoflearningismadepossibleattheUniversityo

2、fMalayathroughitsStudyAbroad-StudentExchangeprogram.UMStudentExchangeprogram(UMSEP)isdesignedforinternationalstudentswhowishtoacquiretheexperienceoflivingandstudyinginaMalaysiancampusthroughashort-termstudyprogram.Itaimsatfosteringinternationalunders

3、tandingamongstudentsofdifferentnationalitiesbyprovidinganexcellentlearningenvironment.Throughtheprogram,studentsfromoverseascanpursuestudiesthroughtaughtcoursesorresearchintheirfieldofinterestandgainbroadperspectivesondifferentculturesandbackgroundof

4、theirpeers.2.DEFINITIONTheUMSEPisashort-termstudyprogramofferedtolocalandinternationalstudents.TheInternationalStudentCentre(ISC)willhandletheintakeofinternationalundergraduatestudentsonly.CategoriesofUMSEParelistedasfollows:I.StudentExchangeProgramm

5、eUMSEPappliestostudentswhoareinterestedtospendatleastonesemesterandNOTMOREthanoneacademicsessionatUniversityofMalaya.Studentsenrollingunderthisprogramwillbepermittedtoregisterincoursesorresearchareasoftheirchoice(subjecttotherulesandregulationsgovern

6、ingtheprogram).UMSEPisopenedtoallundergraduatestudentsfromforeignuniversities.ParticipationinUMSEPStudentsparticipatingintheprogrammaychoosetoenrolinoneormoreofthecoursesofferedduringthesemesterorsessionaslistedbelow:(a)Regularacademicundergraduateco

7、urse.(b)Co-curriculumcourses(practicalcoursesintheareasofculture,artsandsports).(c)Supervisedindependentresearch.Studentsmayidentifytheirownchoiceoffacultymemberstobethesupervisor.HavingbasicMalayLanguageproficiencyisanaddedadvantagetostudentswhowish

8、toenrolinundergraduatecourses,asthemediumofinstructionformostofthecoursesistheMalayLanguage,especiallyinArtsbasedFaculties.ForthebenefitofstudentswhoarenotproficientinthelanguagetheymayregisterforcoursestaughtinEnglishonly.ForsciencebasedFaculties,th
