4、vedmostnotablybyreducingtransactioncostsbetweencompaniesandotheractors,especiallyinareassuchasinformationsearchandbuying.Aknowledge-basedeconomyisdefinedasaneconomydirectlybasedontheproduction,distributionanduseofknowledge.Insucheconomiesthereisahighdegreeofconnectivitybetweentheagentsi
5、nvolved,andknowledgeiswidelyusedandexploitedinallmannerofeconomicactivity.Wehavenowprogressedfromtheknowledge-basedeconomytotheknowledge-driveneconomy,emphasisingthefactthatthecurrentcontributionofknowledgeisverymuchasthedynamoofoureconomy.Theknowledge-driveneconomybringsnewchallengesfo
6、rbusiness.Marketsarebecomingmoreglobalwithnewcompetitors,productlifecyclesareshorten-ing,customersaremoredemandingandthecomplexityoftechnologyisin-creasing.Sowhiletheknowledgeeconomyrepresentsnewopportunities,certainactionsareneededtosupportandtakeadvantageofthesedevelopments.Theimporta
