5、evantcircumstanceswecoulddeducewhichalternativeischosen.Buttheeconomistassumesthatitisunnecessaryforhimtoenquireintothisfulldetermination.Allthatherequirestoknowisacertainpartialdeterminationofhischoice.Ifhereliesontheevidencesofintrospection,hefindsthatanindividualsometimesprefersonealternativeto
6、anotherandsometimesisindifferentasbetweenalternatives.Ifheisindif-ferenttoanumberofalternativesbutprefersthesetoallotheralternativessimultaneouslypresentedtheeconomistassumes,ofcourse,thattheactualchoicemadeisdeterminate,buthealsoassumesthat,sofarasthedeterminationofvalueisconcerned,itmattersnotwh
