4、serunner.Hewasverygoodatstealingbasesduringhiscareer.Inthe1888majorleagueseasonhestole82bases.HewasalsotheSenators’leadinghitterin1888.Hoywascleverandhethrewright-handedandbattedleft-handed.OnJune19,1889hethrewoutthreebatters(击球手)attheplatefromhisoutfieldpo

5、sition.ThearmsignalsusedbyjudgestodaytoshowballsandstrikesbeganbecauseofHoy.Thejudgeliftedhisrightarmtoshowthatthepitchwasastrikeandhisleftarmtosignalthatitwasaball.FormanyyearspeopletalkedaboutHoy’slastballgamein1903.HewasplayingforLosAngelesofthePacificCo
