2、ealswiththeimpactoflandusechangesonwaterregime.AnassessmentwascarriedoutinordertodeterminetheextenttowhichthemaincomponentsofthewaterbalanceontheexperimentalcatchmentVseminkahavebeeninfluencedbylandusechanges(regionVsetinskeHills,theCzechRepublic).Forthisrea
3、son,thewaterbalancemodelWBCM-5wasimplementedfortheperiodof30yearsinadailystep,withparticularfocusonthesimulationofthecomponentsofdirectrunoffandofsubsurfacewaterrecharge.Intheselectedyearsoftheperiod1980-2009,major23changesweremadeinlanduseandsignificantfluc
4、tuationofrainfall-runoffregimeswereobserved(e.g.dryyear1992,floodyear1997andnormalyear2009).AfterWBCM-5parametercalibrationitwasobservedthatsomewaterbalancecomponentscanchangeinrelationtosubstantiallandusechanges,evenuptodozensofpercentinabalance-considerati
5、on,i.e.indaily,monthlyandyearlyordecadalvalues,specificallyasfarasthecomponentsofinterceptionandalsoofdirectrunoffandofsubsurfacewaterrechargeareconcerned.However,adifferentsituationappearedduringtheinvestigationofsignificantshort-termrainfall-runoffprocesse
6、s.TherewereaboutsevenrealfloodeventsduringthesameperiodonthesamecatchmentwhichwereanalysedusingtheKINFIL-2model(timestep0.5hr).Landusechange,positiveornegativescenarios,werealsoanalysedduringthisperiod.Asopposedtolong-termwaterbalanceanalyses,onlya10%differe
7、nceinthehydrographpeakandvolumewasobserved.Insummary,theauthorshaveshownthatitisalwaysimportant23todistinguishapossiblelandusechangeimpactoneitherlong-termbalanceorshort-termrunoff.Otherwise,asoftenfoundinoversimplifiedcommentariesonfloodeventsinthemassmedia
