4、cessorsandcaninmanycasesapproachorexceedASIClevelsofperformance.1IntroductionTomeettheintensivecomputationandI/OdemandsimposedbyDSPsystemsmanycustomdigitalhardwaresystemsutilizingASICshavebeendesignedandbuilt.Customhardwaresolutionshavebeennecessaryduetothelowperfo

5、rmanceofotherapproachessuchasmicroprocessor-basedsystems,buthavethedisadvantageofinflexibilityandahighcostofdevelopment.TheDSPprocessorattemptstoovercometheinflexibilityanddevelopmentcostsofcustomhardware.TheDSPprocessorprovidesflexibilitythroughsoftwareinstruction

6、decodingandexecutionwhileprovidinghighperformancearithmeticcomponentssuchasfastarraymultipliersandmultiplememorybankstoincreasedatathroughput.TheFPGAhasalsorecentlygeneratedinterestforuseinimplementingdigitalsignalprocessingsystemsduetoitsabilitytoimplementcustomha
