2、ectlimitsontheHiggsbosonmassfromtrivialityarguments,vacuumstability,andprecisionelectroweakmea-surementsarepresented.Ane ectiveLagrangian,validwhenthereisnolowmassHiggsboson,isusedtodiscussthephysicsofastronglyinteractingelectroweaksymmetrybreakingsector.Finally,theHiggsbosonsoftheminimal

3、supersymmet-ricmodelareconsidered,alongwiththeresultingdi erencesinphenomenologyfromtheStandardModel.1IntroductionThesearchfortheHiggsbosonhasbecomeamajorfocusofallparticleac-celerators.Inthesimplestversionoftheelectroweaktheory,theHiggsbosonservesbothtogivetheWandZbosonstheirmassesandtog

4、ivethefermionsmass.Itisthusavitalpartofthetheory.Intheselectures,wewillintroducetheHiggsbosonoftheStandardModelofelectroweakinteractions.1;2Section2containsaderivationoftheHiggsmechanism,withparticularattentiontothechoiceofgauge.InSection3wediscussindirectlimitsontheHiggsbosonmasscomingfr
