5、rimplicationsforcurricula②and,inparticular,forfist-cycleprovision.Inearliertimesmanytooktheviewthatafirstdegree③wasasufficientbasisforlifetimecareer.Theacceleratingpaceofknowledgedevelopmenthasunderminedthisconception,andincreasingattentionisnowbeinggiventotheprovisionofhigh

6、erdegreeprogramsandotheropportunitiesforprofessionaldevelopment.Thisraisesaseriousquestion:whatfunctiondoesthefirstdegreeserveinthecontextoflifelonglearning?Logically,itmakesnosenseintoday’sworldtotrytopackfirstdegreecurriculawithalltheknowledge,understandingandskillsneedfor
