3、nbetweenonlineandofflineiseffortbeforeusingacrowdisfeasible.Wearguethatthisover-thatonceaworkerishiredoffanoffline,traditionalmarket,theyheadcouldbesubstantiallyreducedviastandardization.Inthearenotallocatedtotasksviaaspotmarket.Workerswithinfirmssamewaythattaskstandard

4、izationenabledthemassproduc-areemployeeswhohavebeenscreened,trainedfortheirjobstionofphysicalgoods,standardizationofbasic“buildingblock”andarehaveincentivesforgoodperformance—ataminimum,taskswouldmakecrowdsourcingmorescalable.Standardiza-poorperformancecancausethemto

5、losetheirjobs.Furthermore,tionwouldmakeiteasiertosetprices,spreadbestpractices,formanyjobs—particularlythosefocusingontheproductionofbuildmeaningfulreputationsystemsandtrackquality.Allofthisphysicalgoods—goodperformanceisverywelldefined,inthatwouldincreasethedemandfor

6、paidcrowdsourcing—adevelop-workersmustadheretoastandardsetofinstructions.Thisstan-mentweargueispositiveonbothefficiencyandwelfaregrounds.dardizationoftasksistheessentialfeatureofmodernproductionStandardizationwouldalsoallowmorecomplexprocessestobeandhowitcanbeappliedt
