2、sinEnglishteachingandlearning.Inthelasttwodecades,withtheintroductionofcomputertechnologyintoeducation,CALLhasbecomemoreandmorepopularinEnglishteachingofmiddleschoolinChina.TheworkpresentedinthispaperfocusontheproblemswhichexistinCALLthroughthequestionnaire.Basedontheteachingpr
3、inciplesandmissionsofCALL,itaimstopromotetheeffectiveuseofmultimediaintheapplicationofEnglishteaching.Simplystated,ComputerAssistedLanguageLearning(CALL)canbedefinedas“thesearchforandstudyofapplicationsofthecomputerinlanguageteachingandlearning”fromaresearcher’sperspective(Levy
4、,1997).Actually,Americaistheearliestcountrywhichstudieshowtousethecomputertechnologyintoeducation.In1981,IBMPCcameoutwhichcontributedtotheusageofCAI.Thenin1991,peopleinMassachusettsInstituteofTechnologyexploitedAthena(anindependentpackagewhichisusedtodealwithdata),andthisopened
5、aneweraofCAI.Later,CALLcametotheschoolin1980(Xu,2010).Huang(2001)listedmostoftheimportantdatesofCALLinChinafrom1984tolate1990s,includingthebirthofCALLNET,someimportantsymposiums,conferences,activities,etc.anditspotential.SinceTimJohnsofBirminghamUniversityconductedaCALLworkshop
6、inChinaintheyear1984,CALLhasbeendiscussedforover20yearsandexploredindifferentfieldsinappliedlinguistics.Attheearlystage,literaturecoversavarietyoftranslationsorquotationsfromoverseaacademicpublications;from1994to2004,CALLseemstobegrowingupveryrapidlyandmanyscholarshavepioneered
7、indifferentfieldssuchastheapplicationofcomputerinlistening,speaking,reading,writing,distancelearning,machinetranslation,corpuslinguistics,languagetestingandsoon(Li,2004);anotherdevelopmentistheintroductiontotheintegrationoflinguistictheoriesintoCALLstudy(Wang&Ning2002).Moreover
