4、delequa-tionswereimplementedonahybridcomputersystemtoprovideareal-timenon-linearsimulationoftheengineperformanceoverawideoperatingrange.Thereal-timehybridsimulationoftheenginewasusedasatestbedforevaluat-ingamicroprocessor-baseddigitalcontrolmodule.Thisdigitalcontrolmodulewasdevel

5、opedaspartofanadvancedrotorcraftcontrolprogramthathasthelong-termgoalofrotorcraftflightandpropulsioncontrolintegration.Aftertestswiththehybridenginesimulationthedigitalcontrolmodulewasusedtocontrolarealengineinanexperimentalprogram.Ahybridsimulationoftheengine'selectrical-hydrome

6、chanicalcontrolsystemwasalsodeveloped.Thisprovidedaconvenientwayofvaryingthefuelflowandtorqueloadinputstothehybridenginesimulationforsimulatingtransientoperation.Acomparisonofsteady-statedataobtainedfromthesimulationandtheexperimentaltestsispresentedthatvalidatesthesimula-tionres

7、ults.Analyticalmodelequations,analogcomputerdiagrams,andadigitalcomputerflowchartaregivenintheappendixes.INTRODUCTIONNewmissionrequirementsforhelicoptersareleadingtodemandsforfasterresponsefromthehelicopterpropulsionsystemanditsassociatedcontrol.Themostcommonhelicopterpropulsions

8、ystememploysoneortwosmallturboshaftengines.Currentturboshaftenginecontrolsusepneumatic,hydraulic,andmechanicalcomponentstoperformthecontrolsensing,computation,andactua-tion.Therearelimitationsonthedynamicresponseofthesetypesofcom-ponentandthecomplexityofthecontrolfunctionsthatthe
