4、viatedasVN-NP)occurred10,047timesinthePeople'sDailyofJanuary1998(containingabout1.12millionwords).Atthesametime,studyonnounphraseshasattractedincreasingconcern[2-5J.GenerallybelievedthatthemajorityofVN-NPscanbeconvertedtothecorrespondingclauses(suchas武器生产人员"weaponsproductions
5、taff1and人员牛产武器nstaffproducingweapons1*)・Obviously，thetwoformshavemuchincommonaswellasmuchindifference・Butthesimilaritiesanddifferencesbetweenthetwohavebeendiscussedmorefromthegrammaticallevelandlessinvolvedinthesemanticlevel.Infact,themostfundamentaldifferencebetweenthetwoist
