1、GENERALINFORMATION一GAUGING&WASTAGEGaugingrequirementsareshowninTables2a,3aand4a.Whengaugingadrillingunit,wastagefoundistobelimitedtothewastageallowancesshowninTables2b,3band4b・Theseallowancesareonlyacceptablewhenlocalwastageisevident."LocalWastage^isdefinedasaveragewastageofstructurewithin
2、twostiffenerspacingandbetweenframes/girders,i.e."Pane厂structure・Howeverwherewastageisthroughoutasinglestructuralbay,circumference,panel,etc.,(hereinafter,calleda“GlobalWastage')wastageallowancesshowninTables2b,3band4barenotsufficientandconsideredunacceptable・Typically,globalwastagewouldbew
3、herewastageisfoundthroughoutoneofthefollowingareas:•AsinglebayofalegstructureonaSEDU;•AsinglegirthofcylindricallegshellplatingonaSEDU;•Entirelengthofeitherbottom,deckorshellplatingofapreloadtankonaSEDU;•Aleg-wellstructure(shellorinternals)onaSEDU;•Circumferenceofadiagonal/horizontalbracing
4、onaCSDU;•CircumferenceofacolumnonaCSDU;•Bracing/column/hullintersectiononaCSDU;•Entiredrill-floorsubstructuremembersonanyMODU;•Entirehelicopter-deckstructureonanyMODU;•AsinglebeltgaugedonanyMODU.Abovelistingisjustasampleofglobalwastage,butshouldgiveanideaastowhatitmeans.Evenifthewastagewas
5、lessthan"substantialcorrosion^,thismaybeconsideredasexcessivewastageandrequirerenewal.WheretheOwnerdecidesnottorenewexcessiveglobalwastageandrequeststocontinueoperationsforextendedperiodoftime,theattendingSurveyoristorecommendglobalstrengthanalysistobecarriedbytheOwner,submittedtoABSengine
6、eringandacceptedbyABSbeforetheextensionisaccepted・GlobalwastagepercentageofSpecialApplicationStructuresonaMODUistobelessthan5%.Globalwastageof5%oroverrequiresstructuretoberenewed.Ifglobalwastagewaslessthan5%butmorethanglobalsubstantialcorrosion(3.75%)andtheOwnerdecidesnottotakeactionattime
7、ofattendance,thisistobetreatedasanOSR,reportedasan"AdditionalRequirement；andtheSurveyoristorecommendstructurebere-examinedandgaugednotlaterthantheMODUsnextAnnualSurveyduedate.Globalwastagefoundonspecialapplicationstructuresistobeimmediatelybroughttotheattentio
