5、hoolsareengagingindisturbingpracticesineffortsto"raise"theirrank.IfaBlackorMexicanapplicantisdeniedadmissiontolawschool,thereisanexcellentpossibilitythatheorshemayhavebeendiscriminatedagainstbasedonrace.Itisnottheblatant"NoBlacksAllowed"kindofdiscrimination.Itisinstitutional
6、racism,whichishardertoeliminatebecauseitissoinsidious.Institutionalracismoccurswhereaninstitutionadoptsapolicy,practice,orprocedurethat,althoughitappearsneutral,hasadisproportionatelynegativeimpactonmembersofaracialorethnicminoritygroup.Inthecaseoflawschools,theinstitutional
7、racismistheuseoftheLawSchoolAdmissionsTest("LSAT')asthesoleordeterminingfactorinadmission,andspecifically,theuseofanLSATcut-offscorebelowwhichfew,ifany,candidatesareadmitted.ThismisuseoftheLSATisdevastatingtoallminorities,butisparticularlydevastatingforBlacksandLatinos.1Usin
