3、strafficanalysisattacks.Inthispaper,wefocusonaparticularclassoftrafficanalysisattack,flowcorrelationattacks,bywhichanadversaryattemptstoanalyzethenetworktrafficandcorrelatethetrafficofaflowoveraninputlinkatamixwiththatoveranoutputlinkofthesamemix.Twoclassesofcorrelationmethodsareconsidered,nam
4、elytime-domainmethodsandfrequency-domainmethods.Basedonourthreatmodelandknownstrategiesinexistingmixnetworks,weperformextensiveexperimentstoanalyzetheper-formanceofmixes.Wefindthatamixwithanyknownbatchingstrategymayfailagainstflowcorrelationattacksinthesensethatforagivenflowoveraninputlink,
5、theadversarycancorrectlydeterminewhichoutputlinkisusedbythesameflow.Wealsoinvestigatedmethodsthatcaneffectivelycountertheflowcorrelationattackandothertimingattacks.TheempiricalresultsprovidedinthispapergiveanindicationtodesignersofMixnetworksaboutappropriateconfigurationsandalternativemecha
