3、ationsofbasicsentencesareproductsoftransformationalrules.ThereforetherolethatvocabularyplaysinlanguageacquisitionWasneglected.ButadequatetheoriesofL2vocabularyacquisitionandusedomakeasignificantdifferencetoawiderangeofissuesinappliedlinguistics,suchasperform

4、anceassessment,proficiencytestingcurriculumdevelopment,andappliedlexicography.Sincethemid.1980s.therehasbeenarenewedinterestin也eroleofvocabularyinL2learning,andmanyscholarshavewitnessedagrowingbodyofempiricallybasedstudiesofsuchissues嬲thenatureofthebilingual

5、lexicon,vocabularyacquisition,lexicalstorage,lexicalretrieval,anduseofvocabularybyL2learners.IWaSteachingCollegeEnglishinChengduCollegeofUESTCfromSeptember,2006toJuly,2007.MoststudentstherewerenotproficientinEnglisEMoreover,somestudentsmightevenhavetroublema

6、kingagrammaticallycorrectsentence.Still,inmyteachingthere,Ifoundthattheproblemliesmainlyinthelearningofvocabulary,ratherthaninthelearningofgrammar.Withouttrulyeffectivevocabularylearning,therecallhardlybeanymasteryofthelanguage.ButinthepresentsituationofColl
