3、iththepurposeofaccuratelyandefficientlyestimat-XiaopingDu1ingthecumulativedistributionfunction(CDF),probabilitydensityfunction(PDF),andDr.statisticalmomentsofaresponsegiventhedistributionsofinputvariables.ThebivariateAssistantProfessordimensionreductionmethodandnumeri

4、calintegrationareusedtocalculatethemomentsDepartmentofMechanicalandAerospaceoftheresponse;thensaddlepointapproximationsareemployedtoestimatetheCDFandEngineering,PDFoftheresponse.Theproposedmethodrequiresneitherthederivativesofthere-UniversityofMissouri–Rollasponsenor

5、thesearchofthemostprobablepoint,whichisneededinthecommonlyusede-mail:dux@umr.edufirstandsecondorderreliabilitymethods(FORMandSORM)andtherecentlydevelopedfirstordersaddlepointapproximation.Theefficiencyandaccuracyoftheproposedmethodisillustratedwiththreeexampleproblems.W
