2、icationservices,suchascaptureandmultimediainformationmanagementaswellascontrolinformation.Inthispaperasupervisionandcontrolsystembasedinpublicnetworksthatcomplementsaclassicpollingsystemallowingtoincorporatenewinformationservicesandeliminatingthetypicallongdelaysofthesekindsofsy
3、stemsisdescribed.Twoalternativesofcommunicationareevaluated,pointtopointconnectionsandVirtualPrivateNetworks,VPNs/IPonISDN,fortheinterconnectionofthestationsandthecontrolcenter.Forthis,imagesaretransmittedaswellasthecontrolinformationthroughbothtypesofconnection,thethroughputoft
4、hetransmissionisevaluatedanditsbehaviorisobserved.Compressiontechniquesareusedandthedi erentparametersthatcanin
