4、tyKatyBoisUniversite´deMontre´alThepresentresearchexaminedtheroleofautobiographicalmemorynetworksonnegativeemotionalexperiences.Resultsfrom2studiesfoundsupportforanactivebutalsodiscriminantroleofautobio-graphicalmemoriesandtheirrelatednetworkedmemoriesonnegativeemotions.Inaddition,inl
5、inewithself-determinationtheory,thwartingofthepsychologicalneedsforcompetence,autonomy,andrelated-nesswasfoundtobethecriticalcomponentofautobiographicalmemoryaffectingnegativeemotionalexperiences.Study1revealedthatneedthwartinginaspecificautobiographicalmemorynetworkrelatedtothethemeo
6、flosswaspositivelyassociatedwithdepressivenegativeemotions,butnotwithothernegativeemotions.Study2showedwithinaprospectivedesignadifferentialpredictivevaliditybetween2autobiographicalmemorynetworks(ananger-relatedvs.aguilt-relatedmemory)onsituationalangerreactivitywithrespecttounfairtr
7、eatment.Alloftheseresultsheldaftercontrollingforneuroticism(Studies1and2),self-control(Study2),andforthevalence(Study1)andemotions(Study2)foundinthemeasuredautobiographicalmemorynetwork.Thesefindingshighlighttheongoingemotionalsignificanceofrepresentationsofneedthwartinginautobiograph
