2、sultsfromthisprocedurearecomparedtothosefromthecommonlyusedequivalentlateralforceprocedure.Resultsareusedtodevelopdesigncurvesandformulasforrapiddeterminationofcross-sectionalareasforbuckling-restrainedbracesineachstory.Oneinterestingresultisthattheoptimumvariationofareafromstorytostoryisnearl

4、analysis.IntroductionThispaperpresentsaprocedurefordeterminingtherequiredcross-sectionalareasofBRBsinBRBFsthatusebothNTHTheuseofbuckling-restrainedbracesBRBsasameansofre-analysisandoptimization.ThisdesignprocedurewillbereferredsistinglateralseismicloadinghassigniÞcantlyincreasedinrecenttoast

5、henonlineartimehistoryandoptimizationNTHOproce-years.ThisisbecausetheyhavesigniÞcantadvantagesoverspe-dure.DesignsobtainedbytheNTHOprocedurewillbecomparedcialconcentricbraces,whichsufferlossofstrengthandstiffnesstothoseobtainedbytheELFprocedure.afterthebracesbuckleincompressionSEAOC1999.AB
