3、whereSERShappens.Thisvaguedescriptioninsomeextentreflectstheambiguityandcontroversyintheunderstandingofthephenomenon.However,singlemoleculeSERSprovidesusapossiblewaytodisclosethesecret.Singlemoleculespectroscopyisnotonlyanoveltooltoexplorethepropertiesofthemolecules;italso

4、shineslightonthefurtherunderstandingtheSERSitself.Researchworkfromseveralgroupsinthisfieldwasintroduced.TherearelotsofotherapplicationsforSERSinthebioscience,whichisbeyondthescopeofthisshortpaper.OnlytheapplicationofSERSstudyingthesurfaceadsorptionanddetectionofDNAandRNAwe

5、representedtogivesomeflavorsinthisresearchfield.Finally,whatcanwedowithSERS?Inthelastpartofthepaper,thetopicofdoingSERSontheflatsurfacewasdiscussed.Thisisnotonlyofintellectualfun,butmayalsogiveusgreatadvantagestodevelopnewtechniques.OneexampleistocombinetheSERSwithsurfacef

6、orceapparatus(SFA)study,whichrequirestwosmoothflatsurfaces.Unfortunatelysmoothflatsurfaceisthekilleroftheenhancement.Thenherewetrytorescue.OnlylittlemathematicswasgivenfortheillustrationoftheprinciplesofRaman.TheelectromagneticexplanationofSERSwilldefinitelybedemonstratedb
