3、arch.Inthiseditorialintroduction,thecentralthemesofaninternationalapproachtohumanresourcemanagementwillbeclarified.Followingare-developmentofthemainpremisesoftheHarvardmodel,themorespecificaspectsoftheeditorialpolicywillbedetailed.BackgroundItisinevitabletha
4、t,overtime,therewillbemajorchangesintheboundariesofacademicsubjects,witholderfieldsofstudyindecline,andotherratherdifferentareasbecomingofincreasingimportancetoscholarsandpractitionersalike.Inrecentyears,humanresourcemanagementisundoubtedlyoneoftheareasofapp
5、reciableexpansionandtherearestronggroundsforpredictingthatitwillbecomeanevermorevitalfieldofstudyasthe1990sunfold.Indeed,thereisanincreasingrecognitionoftheimportanceofthesubjectarea.Hence,thedevelopmentofaninternational,scholarly-basedjournalinthissubjectar
6、eaisatimelyventure.Thetheoreticalbaseofhumanresourcemanagementisbothmulti-disciplinaryandinterdisciplinary(and,indeed,oneconcernofthejournalwillbetoadvancetheemergingconceptualbasisofthisnewarea).Acentralaspectofhumanresourcemanagementisthelinkwithbusinesspo
7、licyandstrategicmanagement.Otherthanthis,thesubjectisperhapsbestviewedasinvolvingasynthesisofelementsfrominternationalbusiness,organizationalbehaviour,personnelmanagementandindustrial1MichaelPoolerelations.Moreover,itsdiverseparentdisciplinesincludeoccupatio
