2、tpractice,whilstinthecorporatesector,legalcompliancehasbeentheprimarydriverbehindmostdiversityrecruiting.TheintroductionofTheEmploymentEqualityRegulations2003hasmadeitillegaltodiscriminateorharassintheworkplaceonthegroundsofsexualorientation,religionandbeliefs.Howeve

3、r,thethreatofbeingsuedshouldnotbethebackboneofyourdiversitypolicy.Economicsandcommercialadvantageprovidesolidfoundationsformostcorporateinitiativesandthebusinesscaseforincreasingdiversityviarecruitmentshouldbenodifferent.Outlinedbelowisaplanfordevelopinganeffectivedi

4、versityrecruitingstrategy.1.KnowyourmarketInordertoeffectivelyrecruitfromminoritygroups,itisimportanttounderstandyouravailabletalentmarket.Useinternalresourcestohelpyougettoknowyourmarketplace.Marketresearch,marketingandsalesdepartments,andcorporatecommunicationsfunc

5、tionstendtobearichsourceofinformationinrelationtothediversityofyourcustomerbase.Learnfromyoursalesandmarketingteamwho,giventhecommercialbenefit,willhavedevelopedasophisticatedstrategyforattractingandretainingdiversecustomers.Inaddition,officialrecordsexist,providingf
