3、gtostudythepresuppositionsinautomobileadvertisement.Pragmaticpresuppositionsarebestdescribedasarelationbetweenaspeakerandtheappropriatenessofasentenceinacontext(Levinson,1997:177).Duetoitstypicalfunctionthatinformationcanbecommunicatedtoaudienceinanindirectway,pragma

4、ticpresuppositionisfrequentlyusedbyadvertiserswhendesigningautomobileadvertisements.Basedonthepreviousstudiesandpresuppositiontheory,thisresearchaimstostudyhowpresuppositionisusedtoconveythenecessarypositiveinformation,andadvertisetheproductsinahiddenway.100automobil

5、eadvertisementsarecollectedfromChinaDaily,People,andTimesfrom2012to2013.Thisthesisadoptsqualitativeandquantitativeresearchtostudythepresuppositioninautomobileadvertisements.Theauthorusesquantitativeresearchtoinvestigatethefrequencyanddistributionofpragmaticpresupposi

6、tionsinautomobileadvertisement,andusesqualitativeresearchtodescribeanddiscusstheclassificationandfunctionsofeachkindofpresuppositioninadvertisement.Dataanalysisreveals:first,inautomobileadvertisements,thehighestfrequencyofpragmaticpresuppositionsisstatepresupposition
