2、clefocusesonhowsevenproponentsofvarioustranslationtheoriesteachinclassrooms,onwhytheoryisimportantfortheteachingoftheprofession,andonthenatureoftheory.Thisdiscussionleadstoafundamentalconcernforthetrainingoffuturetranslatorsforprofessionalwork.Itisarguedthattranslationtraineessho

4、ctionThe“successstory”(BassnettandLefevere1990:xi)ofinstitutionaltrainingoftranslatorsand1interpretersisindisputable.Inthe1970s,therewereonly49translationtrainingcentresintheworld.Inthe1980s,thefiguregrewto108.Thiswasboostedtoover250programmesoftranslationandinterpretinginthe1990

5、s(FiguresfromCaminadeandPym(1998:280-285)).Inthepastdecades,however,therehavebeencriticalvoices-suchasHouse(1981:7-8)andHurtadoAlbir(1999:10)-whohavewarnedagainstthelackofasystematicpedagogicalframeworkandwho,likeJulianeHouse,havedepictedthetypicaltranslationlearningsettinginblea
